The Plan Chattanooga process is both intuitive and informed. On the intuitive side, public input serves as a foundation about what matters most in the community. On the informed side, a thorough analysis of conditions, trends, and facts will inform the work. The first findings from both of those inputs is now available.

Launch Survey Results (download pdf)

Between August 1 and September 25, a survey (called the launch survey) was conducted to gather input on multiple topics and specific locations in the city. The purpose of the survey was to:

  1. Raise awareness about Plan Chattanooga
  2. Obtain feedback about citywide progress on goals distilled from recent planning
  3. Obtain input on priorities related to these goals within each area of the city
  4. Obtain input on specific locations in the city where these goals can be addressed

The profile provides an overview of conditions and trends covering many topics that the plan will address.

Draft Goals

Both the launch survey and snapshot report are organized around a set of topics and draft goals. The draft goal statements capture what the community previously said is important. These statements are provided to acknowledge the vast amount of planning work the city has undertaken in recent years. They are derived from plans such as One Chattanooga, the countywide comprehensive plan, the Parks and Outdoors Plan, and other area plans. They will be refined through the Plan Chattanooga process based on community input. The goals will be tailored to the needs and priorities of each area of the city.
